Farley Mount Country Park

About this park

Welcome to Farley Mount Country Park, nestled on the outskirts of Winchester near Hursley Village. This isn't your typical country park with cafes and playgrounds, but rather a vast expanse of stunning woodland and open fields, making it absolutely perfect for a good old dog walk and letting the little ones stretch their legs. It's a wonderful spot to escape the hustle and bustle, offering ample space for both dogs and humans to explore. You'll find plenty of opportunities for your canine companion to roam freely, though do keep an eye out for any signage regarding lead requirements in specific areas. The varied terrain, from ancient woodlands to wide-open fields, provides diverse sniffing adventures for your dog. For those without dogs, it's still a fantastic place to enjoy the beautiful Hampshire countryside. While facilities are minimal – there are no cafes or organised play areas – the park's natural beauty more than makes up for it. There are several car parks available, including the spacious and free Hawthorns car park, which is a great starting point for longer rambles. Do bear in mind that the paths are not always smooth and can be stony, muddy, or grassy, so appropriate footwear is a must, especially after rain. Pushchairs and wheelchairs might find some areas challenging. Don't forget to visit the famous Farley Mount Monument, a touching tribute to a brave horse from 1735, with interesting plaques providing more historical detail. It’s a lovely focal point for a walk and adds a touch of local history to your outing. With its natural charm and expansive grounds, Farley Mount is a delightful destination for a proper country stroll.
