East Head, nestled in West Wittering, West Sussex, offers a truly breathtaking escape for you and your four-legged friend. As one of the last remaining natural coastlines in the area, you'll be treated to ever-changing sand dunes, tranquil salt marshes, and the rhythmic flow of the tides. It's a fantastic spot to breathe in the fresh sea air and let your dog enjoy the expansive sandy stretches. There are lovely walking opportunities here, with circular routes like the East Head & Ellanore walk offering stunning vistas of Chichester Harbour and the charming West Wittering village. During nesting season (March to September), it's important to keep dogs out of the roped-off dune areas to protect local birdlife. You'll find clear signage, and dog waste bins are conveniently located at the site entrance and along the salt marsh path. Pets are very welcome here, and whilst there's no National Trust car park directly at East Head, parking is available nearby. It's truly a gem for dogs and their owners who love a good coastal ramble amidst spectacular natural beauty.
