Coombe Hill

About this park
Coombe Hill in Wendover offers a delightful circular walk through beautiful sheltered woodlands, perfect for a peaceful outing with your four-legged friend. You'll wander through the intriguing, coppiced beech of Low Scrubs, then on to the grand, towering beech standards of Linton's Wood, providing a wonderful canopy for your stroll. The highlight for many is the final section of the walk which ascends Coombe Hill itself. From the summit, you're treated to truly far-reaching and spectacular views across the rolling Chilterns – a truly rewarding panorama for both you and your canine companion. It's a fantastic spot for a breath of fresh air and to take in the vastness of the countryside. While dogs are very welcome at Coombe Hill, the National Trust requests they are kept on leads at all times. This is particularly important as livestock, usually cattle, often graze on Coombe Hill, and keeping your dog under control ensures the safety and well-being of all animals and visitors. Please remember to clean up after your dog to keep these beautiful grounds pristine for everyone. Parking is free at the Coombe Hill car park, which is easily accessible and serves as the starting point for the walk. You'll find several benches dotted around, particularly in the picnic area, on Coombe Hill itself, and by Dunsmore pond, offering plenty of spots for a well-deserved rest. There are no facilities like toilets or a cafe on site, so do bear that in mind before your visit.
