Ferry Meadows

About this park

Ferry Meadows Country Park in Peterborough offers an absolutely cracking day out for you and your furry friend! It's a huge park, sprawling across 500 acres, so you can easily spend hours exploring the diverse landscapes. You'll find a mix of open meadows and woodlands, all set around several beautiful lakes. The scenery changes constantly, offering something new to discover with every visit. For those pups who love to sniff and explore, the Bluebell Wood is a real treat, although it can get a bit muddy after a good British shower, so do wear appropriate footwear! If you fancy a more gentle stroll, the riverside walk provides stunning views (but again, watch out for slippery patches). The park gets its name from its lovely meadows, where you might spot some cows grazing peacefully in fenced-off areas. Your dog is generally free to roam off-lead throughout most of the park, and there's a fantastic big green space near the main car park that's perfect for a game of fetch. Do keep an eye on swans and geese near the lakes – some dogs just can't resist a chase! Facilitating your visit, there are two excellent cafes, with the Lakeside Cafe being a personal favourite, renowned for its dog-loving staff. Both cafes provide fresh water bowls to keep your dog hydrated. You'll also find plenty of well-maintained toilets for humans and numerous waste bins for doggy deposits. Public conveniences are aplenty – and very welcome! For parking, there are two large car parks, which typically cost around £3 for the day if an attendant is on duty, which is great value for such a wonderful facility. If you're an early bird, you might even snag free parking before 10 am on weekends. All in all, Ferry Meadows is a top-notch dog walking destination!
