Porthcurno Beach

About this park

Porthcurno Beach, nestled near Penzance in Cornwall, offers a breathtaking coastal experience with its soft, white shell sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Backed by impressive granite cliffs, it's a truly picturesque spot for a lovely day out. Do take a moment to admire the famous Logan Rock in the distance while you're enjoying the scenery! For dog walkers, Porthcurno Beach welcomes well-behaved pooches outside of the peak summer months. Please be aware that there's a seasonal dog ban in place from 1st July to 31st August, between 10 am and 6 pm, enforced by the local council. During permitted times, your furry friend will love exploring the vast expanse of sand and paddling in the gentle waves. There are also fantastic opportunities to explore sections of the South West Coast Path that run alongside the beach, offering stunning clifftop views. Just keep an eye out for wildlife and other walkers! Parking is available in a large pay-and-display car park (not managed by the National Trust), so remember to bring some change or a card for the charges. Toilets are conveniently located next to the car park, which is a real bonus after a long walk. Access to the beach is either via steep steps or a sandy slope with a rope handrail, so bear this in mind for buggies or those with limited mobility. While there are no specific dog-washing facilities, the natural freshwater stream that runs onto the beach might offer a quick rinse for sandy paws. Enjoy the stunning surroundings, but do take note of the strong currents and steeply shelving beach. Lifeguard cover is seasonal, so always check for RNLI flags before letting dogs (or children!) venture too far into the water. And do be mindful of potential rockfalls from the cliffs. It's a gorgeous spot, perfect for creating wonderful memories with your canine companion!
