Savernake Forest

About this park

Discover the enchanting Savernake Forest, a truly historic gem nestled just south of Marlborough. This ancient woodland, a designated Special Site of Scientific Interest, offers a wonderful escape for you and your four-legged friend. Wander through its rich landscapes, uncovering towering veteran trees and a diverse tapestry of habitats that have flourished over a thousand years. Don't miss spotting the impressive Big Bellied Oak, a truly ancient resident of the forest! Savernake Forest welcomes well-behaved dogs, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or an adventurous ramble. With a variety of surfaced and non-surfaced paths, there's always a new route to explore. Please remember to keep dogs under control to protect the wildlife and respect other visitors. While enjoying your visit, kindly help us prevent wildfires by not lighting BBQs, fires, or camp stoves in the forest. Parking is conveniently located at Postern Hill and, happily, it's completely free! The car park is open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, though do note it's locked promptly at 7:00 PM. Toilets are available seasonally, generally from Easter until the end of October half term, and a lovely picnic area makes it perfect for a packed lunch amidst nature's beauty. Grab your lead and come experience the magic of Savernake Forest!
