About this park
Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, nestled in the gorgeous Cambridgeshire countryside, offers a truly unique dog-walking experience. This ancient wetland is a haven for wildlife and provides a wonderfully atmospheric backdrop for a stroll with your four-legged friend. Whilst the delicate Sedge Fen area (including the Boardwalk, Woodland Walk, and Summer Nature Trail) is reserved for assistance dogs only due to the fragile environment, your canine companion is very welcome on Adventurers' Fen and the wider reserve paths, as well as in the Visitor Centre and shop. This allows you and your dog to explore a significant portion of this beautiful fenland landscape. Do keep your dog under close control to protect the wildlife and respect other visitors enjoying the tranquillity. Enjoy the stunning scenery that changes with the seasons, from blooming wildflowers to dramatic winter skies. The Lodes Way cycle path, which extends towards Adventurers' Fen, is a fantastic, accessible route for you and your dog to stretch your legs and take in the expansive views. There are benches scattered along the accessible routes, offering perfect spots for a rest and to soak up the peaceful atmosphere. Remember to bring water for your dog, especially on warmer days, as you might spend a good while immersing yourselves in nature. The main car park is conveniently located and free for National Trust members (just scan your card) or £3.50 for non-members. The Docky Hut cafe near the Visitor Centre is a lovely spot for human refreshments. Toilets are available in the car park and also in the Learning Centre behind the cafe. Wicken Fen is an exceptional place to connect with nature, and with your dog beside you, it's an even more enriching experience, just remember to check the specific access rules for dogs to ensure a happy visit for everyone.
