About this park

Runnymede, near Egham in Surrey, is a historic and expansive area of riverside meadows and woodland, famous for the sealing of the Magna Carta. Dogs are very welcome throughout the countryside here and can be off-lead under close control in many areas. Owners are asked to keep their dogs on a short lead as a sign of respect when walking around the various memorials. The diverse landscape offers a range of walking experiences, from gentle strolls along the Thames Path to more exploratory routes through the meadows and woodland of Ankerwycke. The paths are generally accessible, though some riverside routes can be prone to flooding in winter. The combination of open spaces and historical points of interest provides plenty of sensory stimulation for dogs and their owners. Parking is available at the Memorials and Riverside car parks (charges apply for non-National Trust members), and accessible toilets are located at the rear of the Magna Carta Tea-room. The tea-room is dog-friendly inside and out, offering a perfect spot for refreshments after a walk. Bins are provided on site, ensuring a clean and enjoyable visit. The countryside is open from dawn until dusk, offering ample time for a good stretch of the legs.
