About this park
Get ready for a truly enchanting stroll at The Hermitage in Dunkeld, a spectacular woodland famed for its towering Douglas Firs – some of the tallest trees in Britain! You and your canine companion will love exploring the network of scenic paths alongside the River Braan, leading to the dramatic Black Linn Falls and the whimsical Ossian's Hall of Mirrors. It's a fantastic spot for a good sniff and a stretch of the legs, with plenty of interesting sights and sounds for both of you to enjoy. Keep an eye out for abundant wildlife, including red squirrels and salmon leaping up the falls! While dogs are very welcome to join you on your adventure through The Hermitage, we do ask that they are kept on a lead to protect the sensitive wildlife and ensure everyone has a pleasant visit. Remember to bring your poo bags and make use of the bins provided to keep this beautiful National Trust for Scotland property pristine for all visitors. The paths are generally well-maintained, but they can be a bit uneven in places, so suitable footwear for both humans and hounds is a good idea, especially after rain. Parking is available for a charge at the main National Trust for Scotland car park, which is conveniently located right at the entrance to the woodland trails. From here, you'll find clear signposts to guide you through the various routes. There aren’t dedicated dog-washing facilities, so you might want to bring a towel for muddy paws, especially if your dog loves a good splash in the river! Do note that while there are beautiful spots for picnicking, there isn't a café on-site, so pack some refreshments for yourself and your furry friend to enjoy amidst the stunning natural beauty.
