Danbury Common

About this park

Danbury Commons, along with Blakes Wood and Lingwood Common, offers a delightful expanse for you and your furry friend to explore in the heart of Essex. You'll find a charming mix of woodland and open common, providing scenic dog-friendly paths perfect for a good stretch of the legs. While dogs are welcome in most areas, do keep an eye out for clearly signposted fenced enclosures, which are off-limits. The scenery here is wonderfully varied; Blakes Wood and Lingwood Common boast cooler, wooded walks, perfect for shadier strolls on warmer days. At Danbury Commons, you can follow the perimeter footpath or explore routes from the car park towards Penny Royal Road, enjoying the open views. A special note of caution: adders are present on Danbury Common, so please be mindful and keep an eye on your dog, especially if they enjoy delving into undergrowth. Parking is available at all three sites: Danbury Commons, Blakes Wood, and Lingwood Common, with dog bins handily located in each car park. You'll also find water bowls available for your thirsty canine companions. While there isn't a dedicated café on site, the area is generally very dog-friendly, earning a 'two pawprint' rating from the National Trust, meaning you can expect suitable facilities for dogs. Remember to always keep your dog under close control, especially near wildlife and other visitors, and please, always scoop the poop! Having a lead handy is a good idea for situations where livestock or other wildlife might be present, or if you encounter others who prefer dogs to be leashed.
