High Woods Country Park in Colchester, Essex, offers a fantastic escape for you and your canine companion! While most areas welcome dogs off-lead, keep an eye out for seasonal restrictions, especially around the lake during summer months (June-September) and in areas where livestock may be grazing in winter. It's always a good idea to put your dog on a lead in car parks and when approaching other park users, such as families, cyclists, and school groups, as well as near wildlife. The park provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature, so please help keep it beautiful by always clearing up after your dog. There are 17 dog waste bins conveniently located at most pedestrian entrances and in both car parks. While additional bins aren't available within the park's central areas due to access and aesthetic reasons, the visitor centre does sell dog poo bags if you happen to forget yours. Please be mindful that dogs are not permitted in the lake or ponds to protect wildlife and maintain water quality. This ensures a safe and pleasant environment for everyone, including the park's resident creatures. Do make sure your dog wears an ID collar at all times, as this greatly assists with reuniting lost pets.
