Gisburn Forest, nestled in the stunning Forest of Bowland near Clitheroe, Lancashire, offers a fantastic escape for you and your four-legged friend! While it's known for its mountain biking, there are plenty of peaceful paths suitable for dogs, offering a wonderful sense of space and freedom. The scenery here is simply breathtaking, with ancient trees and tranquil reservoirs like Stocks Reservoir creating a beautiful backdrop for your adventures. Dogs are very welcome throughout the forest, but please do keep them under control, especially around wildlife and other visitors. It's the ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a more energetic hike, with plenty of opportunities for sniffing out new smells and enjoying the fresh country air. Parking is available at Gisburn Hub, Cocklet Hill, and Stocks Reservoir, with charges applying at all locations. Gisburn Hub uses ANPR, where you pay by card on exit or online later, while Cocklet Hill has a 'Pay & Display' that only accepts coins. Members of Forestry England or Gisburn Forest can park for free, which is a great option if you plan to visit regularly. The forest is open from dawn until dusk daily. You'll find toilet facilities and a cafe on-site (check opening times, as they can vary), perfect for a post-walk cuppa and treat. There are also picnic areas if you fancy bringing your own refreshments to enjoy amidst the beautiful surroundings.
