Cleeve Hill Common, near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, is the highest point in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering over 400 hectares of spectacular walking. Dogs are very welcome throughout, with plenty of open space for off-lead adventures, although owners are advised to keep them on a lead during windy conditions, for their safety and that of the local wildlife. The varied terrain includes challenging hills and gentler paths, providing endless sniffing opportunities and stunning views across the Gloucestershire landscape, including Cheltenham Racecourse. The common is also part of the Cotswold Way Public Bridleway, offering even more extensive walking routes. The common features a mix of wide-open grasslands, ideal for stretching your dog's legs, and offers fantastic panoramic vistas from spots like the 'lone beech'. While there aren't specific dog facilities like water bowls or a dedicated wash station, the natural environment is perfect for dogs who love to explore. Benches are available at viewpoints for a rest, allowing you and your canine companion to soak in the scenery. Parking is free at several locations, including near the Golf Club (GL52 3PW) and the Radio Mast, though spaces can be limited. Dog waste bins are provided, encouraging responsible dog ownership.
