Dimmingsdale Valley

About this park

Dimmingsdale, nestled in the gorgeous Staffordshire countryside near Cheadle, is a true hidden gem for dog walkers. Once grand drives for the Earl of Shrewsbury, these paths now welcome everyone, including our four-legged friends, to explore. You'll find an abundance of woodland trails, serene streams, and tranquil ponds and lakes – perfect for a peaceful stroll or an energetic adventure with your canine companion. The scenery here is simply stunning, offering a wonderful escape into nature. Your dog is more than welcome here, and you'll find plenty of space for them to enjoy the fresh air and exciting scents. While assistance dogs are always welcome, general dogs are also allowed throughout the park, making it an ideal spot for a family outing with your furry friend. Do remember to keep an eye on them, especially near water and around other visitors, to ensure everyone has a lovely time. The terrain can be a bit steep in places, so be prepared for a bit of an uphill climb on some routes, though there are also gentler strolls available. Parking at Dimmingsdale is free, which is always a bonus! The car park opening times vary seasonally, so it's a good idea to check before you visit: 8am-5pm in Spring/Autumn, 8am-6pm in Summer, and 8am-4pm in Winter. If you fancy a break, the Rambler's Retreat café offers a lovely spot for refreshments. Picnic areas are also available if you prefer to bring your own snacks. Do make sure to take any rubbish home with you to keep this beautiful valley pristine for everyone to enjoy.
