Burnham Beeches

About this park

Burnham Beeches, near Slough in Buckinghamshire, is an internationally significant 220-hectare nature reserve, offering a diverse array of ancient woodland, heath, wood pasture, and wetlands for dogs and their owners to explore. Dogs are welcome throughout, with informal paths weaving through much of the site, allowing for off-lead adventures in many areas. However, Public Spaces Protection Orders are in place, meaning dogs must be kept on a lead in specific marked sections and owners are limited to walking a maximum of four dogs at once. Detailed maps on site provide clarity on these rules. The varied terrain promises an engaging walk for all, from meandering woodland trails to open heathland. While off-road cycling and horse riding are prohibited to protect the environment, the closed tarmac roads are ideal for those with buggies or less mobile visitors. Ample opportunities for sniffing and exploring abound, with the stunning ancient pollarded trees providing a unique backdrop to a dog walk steeped in history. Facilities include parking, which is pay-and-display on weekends and public holidays, and the Beeches Café, which welcomes dogs in its outdoor seating areas (with a dog-free indoor section). Toilets are also available. Litter bins are provided, and visitors are encouraged to use them or take rubbish home. Burnham Beeches is open to pedestrians from dawn till dusk, with car parks operating from 8 am until dusk, offering a wonderful location for a historical and natural outing with your canine companion.
