Rivington Pike
Bolton, Lancashire, BL6 7SB
About this park
Rivington Pike offers a fantastic dog-walking experience in the heart of Lancashire, boasting breathtaking panoramic views across the West Pennine Moors and beyond on a clear day. Your four-legged friend will absolutely love exploring the varied terrains, from ancient woodlands to open moorland paths, all leading up to the iconic Pike Tower. It's a wonderful spot for both a leisurely stroll or a more energetic hike, with plenty of opportunities for sniffing and discovering. While dogs are very welcome at Rivington Pike, we do kindly ask that you keep them on a lead, especially around livestock and during ground-nesting bird season, which typically runs from March to July. There are many different routes to choose from, some more accessible than others, so you can tailor your walk to suit your dog's energy levels and your preferences. Remember to bring water for your canine companion, especially on warmer days, as some parts of the walk can be quite exposed. Parking is available at various points around the Rivington Estate, including popular car parks like Lower House and Great House Barn, though these can get busy, particularly on weekends and bank holidays. While there isn't a dedicated dog wash, there are some lovely cafes nearby where you might find water bowls for thirsty pups. It's truly a gem for dog owners looking for a scenic and invigorating outing.
